The chairman of the "Zenit" club in St. Petersburg, Alexander Medvedev, expressed his thoughts on moving the date of the club's centenary. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
He emphasized that the year the club was founded is May 1925. According to Medvedev, when a person is born, their age is considered to be zero, and the following year is counted as their first year.
For this reason, the exact birth year of "Zenit" is May 1925. He also mentioned that the club was unable to hold its first season that year, as the championship was held in a spring and autumn system at that time. This means that the club could not participate in a full season that year. Last season, "Zenit" accumulated 66 points over 30 rounds in the Russian Premier League, finishing in second place.
This result is a significant achievement for the club and is expected to serve as a foundation for future successes. Medvedev pointed out that historically misidentifying "Zenit's" main date could negatively impact the club's standing.
Therefore, it is essential that the centenary celebration events are held based on the accurate date.
