Niko Williams, a forward for Athletic and the Spain national team, who is currently on Barcelona's radar, has set an important condition before moving to the Catalan club. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to Marca, the 22-year-old player is waiting for official confirmation from Barcelona. He wants to be guaranteed that he will be able to register without issues for La Liga matches if a change occurs. Williams is concerned about similar situations that occurred last season, particularly the difficulties faced by Spanish players like Dani Olmo and Pau Victor during their registration process.
Their registrations were prolonged due to restrictions related to the principles of financial fair play and were only resolved after appealing to the Spanish High Sports Council. At the same time, Williams has expressed interest in moving to Barcelona, but he has not yet received guarantees that fully meet his conditions. Club president Joan Laporta has emphasized that he is ready to pay the buyout clause of 58 million euros specified in the player's contract with Athletic.
Currently, the transfer process is stalled due to unresolved issues regarding salary cap and compliance with financial fair play regulations at Barcelona. Once the club addresses these issues, the player's transfer is expected to be finalized.
