Former president of Lokomotiv Nikolay Naumov expressed his opinion in an interview with the online publication Euro-Futbol.ru that forward Anton Zabolotniy will not be able to help the Spartak team. Euro-football.ru reported this.
He stated that there is a high probability that Zabolotniy will not be beneficial for Spartak. According to Naumov, perhaps head coach Stankovich called Zabolotniy specifically because he wants to play with a player who can play well with his head in attack.
However, he believes that after watching Zabolotniy's performance at Himki, he noticed his weaknesses and therefore thinks he will not be able to help Spartak either. At the same time, he mentioned that the team decided to give him a trial because the player came for free and will undergo a trial with a small salary.
Naumov emphasized that he is not hopeful about this move. On July 1, Spartak announced that they had signed a contract with 34-year-old Anton Zabolotniy.
This contract will be valid between the parties until the summer of 2026. Overall, in Naumov's opinion, Zabolotniy's addition to Spartak will not significantly contribute to the team's strengthening and this decision may not be successful.
