Ivan Rakitich, a member of the Croatian national team who won a silver medal at the World Cup and a former midfielder for Barcelona, has decided to end his career. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
This decision was announced by the head coach of the Hajduk team, Gonzalo Garcia. Rakitich has been representing this club since 2024.
Garcia emphasized that Ivan is a player who acts wisely and has good ideas, and he understands football well. Currently, it is a challenging period for Rakitich as transitioning from playing to office work is not easy.
Last season, the 37-year-old player appeared in 39 matches, scored 2 goals, and provided 5 assists. Rakitich's career has also included stints at Sevilla, Basel, Schalke, and Al-Shabab.
He will now continue to work as an assistant sports director at Hajduk. This decision allows him to continue his experience in the football field in a new managerial role.
Ivan Rakitich's retirement is seen as the beginning of changes within the team.
