Vladimir Bystrov, a former midfielder of Moscow's "Spartak" and "Zenit" teams, spoke about the fines imposed for excess weight. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
Bystrov played for "Spartak" during the time Valeriy Karpin was in charge from 2008 to 2009. According to him, the "Dinamo" legionnaires might be surprised by the specialist's methods, but they will comply with the established rules.
“Such a situation also occurred at 'Spartak'. At the end of the month, when fines were collected, even Veliton did not resist and paid a $500 fine for excess fat,” Bystrov said in an interview on the “O, Rodnoy Futbol!” YouTube channel.
Bystrov described Karpin as a good motivator. He emphasized that regardless of what players do in their free time, it is important for them to meet his demands on the field.
The former player cited himself as an example: he also did not strictly adhere to the regimen, but he always played on the field and contributed to the team. Thus, Karpin's strict standards and fines serve to enhance the discipline of the players.
This positively affects the overall results of the team. Such strict discipline and team spirit are essential for achieving success in sports.
