
Spanish specialist Imanol Algvasil has been appointed as the head coach of Saudi Arabia's Al-Shabab club. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
The club's official website announced this. Al-Shabab finished sixth in the league last season under the leadership of Turkish coach Fatih Terim.
Algvasil has been active at Real Sociedad, the club considered his homeland, since 2011. In 2018, he became the head coach of this club and two years later won the Copa del Rey.
Three months ago, it became known that Algvasil would leave the team due to disagreements with the management. The 53-year-old specialist has attracted interest from Sevilla.
Additionally, his candidacy was also considered by Bayer and Porto clubs during the summer. Algvasil's new team faces many challenges, and his performance is expected to be of significant importance for Saudi football.
The Al-Shabab team aims to achieve even better results under the management of the new coach.
