“Fenerbahce” head coach Jose Mourinho has been suspended for four matches for his comments following the match against “Galatasaray” in the Turkish Super League's 25th round (0:0). This was reported by Sky TG24.
According to the source, the 62-year-old Portuguese specialist received a two-match suspension for a racist statement and another two-match penalty for insulting the fourth official during the match.
As a result, Mourinho will miss four matches in the Turkish Super League against “Antalyaspor,” “Samsunspor,” “Bodrum,” and “Trabzonspor.”
According to the Turkish Football Federation, Mourinho was fined 117,000 lira for insulting the referees and 1,500,000 lira for his statement regarding the opposing team members.
It is worth noting that after the match against “Galatasaray,” Mourinho emphasized that the opposing team's bench players and coaching staff acted like “monkeys.”
These remarks were deemed racist by “Galatasaray,” and the club stated in an official statement: “Mourinho's comments against the Turkish people are devoid of humanity.”
“Fenerbahce” emphasized that these statements were taken out of context and fully supports Mourinho. At the same time, it is reported that Mourinho himself may sue “Galatasaray” for defamation.
For your information, Mourinho's penalty only applies to the Turkish Super League, and he will be able to manage the team in the important match against “Rangers” in the Europa League.
