According to former midfielder Aleksandr Grishin, the Zenit team should not face problems in defense. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
He stated that despite having strong performers in attack, the team has enough qualified defenders as well. There are players in the Zenit squad who can organize the defense.
In particular, there are Duglas Santos, Nino, Mantuan, and the new player Vega. Grishin notes that while Vega has been playing a bit forward in friendly matches, Santos has been observed dropping back to receive the ball in his area.
In the first round of the 2025/2026 season, Zenit will host the Rostov team at home. The match will take place on July 20 in St. Petersburg and will start at 18:00 Moscow time.
As the latest transfer, Brazilian midfielder Jerson has joined the team. His transfer fee amounted to 25 million euros.
