Today, algorithms and social networks dominate the internet space, which causes many people to feel isolated. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
However, the early days of the internet, namely the 1990s and early 2000s, were completely different. The internet of that time had a simple, slow, yet sincere environment.
Many forgotten web pages, such as GeoCities created in 1996, chat rooms intended for series like "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," and promotional pages related to the movie Space Jam, are being revisited today. Unfortunately, most of them are preserved only in the Internet Archive.
According to researchers, 38 percent of web pages on the internet have disappeared, which indicates the loss of an important digital history of humanity. Due to new artificial intelligence technologies and changes in the Google search engine, users are now shifting from searching for specific sites to looking for direct answers.
This situation may negatively impact the economy of websites. Nevertheless, the simple, personal, and unique pages of the early internet era are valued as examples of human creativity and free expression.
Returning to these forgotten corners of the internet reminds us of the human and kind aspects of the internet.
