Telegram founder Pavel Durov revealed that he requested assistance from the Moldovan government through French intelligence services to restrict certain Telegram channels ahead of the presidential elections. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to him, when the first list provided by French and Moldovan officials was checked, some channels were deleted due to violations of the platform's rules. However, in the second list submitted later, no violations were found; those channels were only indicated because the government disliked them due to their political views.
Durov stated that an intermediary, on behalf of French intelligence, offered him the opportunity to express a positive opinion before a judge who had issued an arrest warrant. However, Pavel Durov considers such an agreement completely unacceptable.
He emphasized that he would not allow content to be removed for political reasons and would continue to expose attempts to pressure Telegram. Thus, the Telegram platform declared its firm stance against political pressure.
