Moldova condemns Russia's drone strikes
Moldova Over 17 hours, five drones were detected in Moldova's airspace, which were identified as belonging to Russia, according to One.uz.
Following the incidents, Moldova's Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Russian ambassador, as reported by Reuters.
According to reports, the drones entered Moldova's airspace during the night of October 15 to 16 and on October 16, all of them crashing in the northern and eastern parts of the country.
As a result of the incidents, one person sustained minor injuries, and material damage was reported. The Moldova Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the incidents as a threat to civilian safety.
The ministry's statement noted that Russia's war against Ukraine is directly affecting regional stability, and the drone-related incidents prompted the summoning of the Russian ambassador, Oleg Ozerov, for explanations.
The Moldova government has previously demanded explanations from Russia regarding violations of its airspace. President Maia Sandu views Russia's foreign policy as contrary to Moldova's national interests.
For over two years, she has refused to accredit Oleg Ozerov, the Russian ambassador who has been active in Moldova, while Russia accuses the Moldova leadership of pursuing an anti-Moscow policy.
According to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, for relations between the two countries to improve, the Maia Sandu government must abandon its "Russophobia-based" policy.
