The British police have uncovered an international criminal group that sent nearly 40,000 stolen mobile phones from the country to China. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
As a result of raids conducted at 28 addresses in London and Hertfordshire, 18 people were arrested, and more than 2,000 phones were found. The investigation began by tracking a victim's stolen iPhone.
After the phone was taken to a warehouse near London, the police discovered hundreds more devices there, indicating the existence of an international smuggling network. Among those detained were two Afghan and one Indian citizen.
They are accused of concealing stolen property. In subsequent raids, another 15 people, mostly women, were arrested.
According to police data, this group may be responsible for up to 40 percent of phone thefts in London. Officials emphasized that many of the stolen iPhones are being sold at high prices in China.
This turns the crime into a profitable and large-scale business. This case is of significant importance in the international fight against phone theft and smuggling.
