Cloudflare platform fully protects against quantum computing risks
Cloudflare aims to fully protect its platform, including user authentication systems, from risks associated with quantum computing by 2029. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

Accordingly, the company announced an acceleration of its post-quantum security plan. This decision was made based on new research indicating that currently used encryption standards may become obsolete sooner than expected.

Recent studies by specialists from Google and Oratomic showed significant results in creating algorithms and technical devices capable of bypassing widely used protection methods such as RSA-2048. Therefore, Cloudflare is preparing for the arrival of an era of quantum systems that could break modern encryption protocols on a large scale.

According to experts' estimates, such a risk could materialize by the end of this decade. Currently, industry specialists are focusing more on protecting current authentication systems than on long-term data encryption.

Attackers with quantum capabilities may be able to forge official documents for direct access to corporate networks. Implementing post-quantum authentication systems is considered a technically complex process due to the dependence on long-term keys and third-party certificates.

Therefore, companies must adopt new standards and gradually phase out outdated encryption systems to ensure reliable protection. Currently, more than half of Cloudflare's network traffic uses post-quantum key exchange methods.

The company plans to expand support for authentication systems by 2026 and apply this to most of its products by 2028. By 2029, all services on the platform will have a post-quantum level of security for customers at no additional cost.
