Edge browser now lets you listen to YouTube videos in the background

Important new features have appeared in the mobile version of the Edge browser developed by Microsoft. It is now possible to listen to YouTube videos in the background through this browser. The feature was first introduced in the experimental Edge Canary build of the browser. Thanks to it, users can switch to other pages or return to the smartphone home screen while the audio from the video continues to play without interruption.
As part of the new updates, audio indicators have also been added for tabs. Users can now quickly identify which of the open tabs is currently playing audio or video. In addition, a special menu makes it easy to enable or completely mute the sound of a website.
As is known, YouTube had restricted the ability to watch videos in the background via third-party browsers in order to promote its paid subscription services. However, Microsoft has found a way to bypass this limitation. Especially at a time when the YouTube Premium subscription prices have increased, such a free feature provides significant convenience for users.
These updates aim to enhance the internet experience on mobile devices. Users can now listen to videos while simultaneously handling other tasks or browsing other sites. These browser updates are expected to become available to all users in the near future.
