GAC Group has created safe and fast-charging batteries

Greater Bay Technology, a startup incubator of the automotive industry giant GAC Group, has developed a prototype for all-solid-state batteries. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Company representatives noted that with the help of the new technology, an important balance between safety, energy density, and charging speed has been achieved. Engineers created a hybrid electrolyte substance consisting of a combination of organic and inorganic components.
This material differs fundamentally from previous versions that used brittle ceramics or toxic sulfides. The newly developed non-flammable material successfully passed special tests, including stages for checking mechanical impacts and the effects of high temperatures.
The energy density of the new batteries reaches from 260 to 500 watts per kilogram. This figure is significantly higher than the 250-300 watt capabilities of lithium-ion cells widely used today.
Such technology allows for a further increase in the distance cars can travel on a single charge. Additionally, this innovation reduces full charging time from 20 to 30 minutes, while maintaining a service life similar to traditional batteries.
Greater Bay Technology has already filed more than fifty patent documents regarding electrolyte composition and production processes. Mass production of the new batteries is planned to begin by the end of 2026 at a plant in the Nansha district of Guangzhou.
The initial batches will be installed in GAC's high-end Hyptec vehicles. According to reports, by March 2026, the company holds a certain share of the Chinese market and is expanding its capacities.
