If a person has not changed their eating habits but is still gaining weight, it is likely that their metabolism has slowed down. This problem often occurs in individuals over the age of 40.
According to dietitian Catherine Djerbasion, metabolism slows down with age, even if diet and physical activity remain unchanged. Therefore, she recommends that such individuals reconsider their eating habits and eliminate three products from their diet.
First of all, products with added sugar contribute to the slowing down of metabolism. This primarily includes sweets, cookies, and candies sold in stores.
The second harmful product is sugary and sweet snacks (cereals). The high sugar content in them causes rapid fluctuations in blood glucose levels, which negatively affects metabolism.
The third product is yogurts with artificial additives. The specialist advises consuming unsweetened natural Greek yogurt instead of such yogurts.
