Japanese scientists have identified a fruit that extends lifespan

The scientists at the National Institute of Health in Japan have found that peaches possess properties that slow down the aging process and extend lifespan. The research results were published in the Asian Journal of Longevity Research (AJLR).
“Peaches are a true treasure of antioxidants. This fruit, rich in soluble and insoluble fibers, creates a strong protective shield for the body,” said Dr. Kenzo Hashimoto, a specialist in gerontology and dietetics at Tokyo Medical University.
According to the research, antioxidants such as beta-carotene and polyphenols in peaches have the ability to selectively eliminate cancer cells without harming healthy cells. The effectiveness is particularly high when consuming well-ripened peaches.
Based on experiments conducted on model organisms, it has been concluded that peach extract can extend lifespan by up to 23 percent. Scientists believe that regular consumption of peaches could become the cheapest and simplest way to enhance health and prolong life.
