Uzbekistan is investing 1 billion dollars in the pharmaceutical industry

Currently, 3,500 types of medicines and medical supplies are being produced in Uzbekistan.
During the meeting with pharmaceutical companies, the President of Uzbekistan announced the extension of customs privileges for them until 2028 and the establishment of an investment fund for advanced pharmaceutical projects with a capital of 100 million dollars.
The issue of localizing the production of medicines to reduce the share of imports was also discussed. It was approved to create a project portfolio with a total value of 1 billion dollars aimed at ensuring the quality of popular medicines to be no less than that of foreign analogs, enhancing competition and accessibility.
The article states that to increase exports, the state budget will cover the costs for entrepreneurs to obtain certification from the US Food and Drug Administration and the European Medicines Agency.
