The latest data on family relationships in Uzbekistan requires serious attention. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In the first half of 2025, a total of 95,300 marriages were registered in the country, which is 2,100 less than the same period last year. At the same time, the number of divorces is increasing.
In the first six months of this year, 23,300 families officially divorced, which is 800 more than last year. Thus, marriages are decreasing while divorces are increasing.
Experts interpret this situation in various ways. Some consider it a result of social and economic difficulties, while others explain it by the changing values in modern society, the pursuit of personal independence, and the increasing demand for family.
This trend is particularly noticeable in Tashkent city. Although the family is considered sacred in the national mentality, many couples in the capital are not rushing to marry, and many of the marriages that are formed are breaking down in a short time.
According to psychologists and sociologists, many couples enter marriage without making the right choice, which later leads to disagreements and conflicts. Unemployment, housing problems, and the complexity of living conditions are also contributing to the increase in the number of divorces.
At the same time, some specialists consider such changes as a sign of psychological healing in society. They believe that it is better to divorce amicably than to live in an unhealthy relationship, which is an expression of respect for personal values.
The government is implementing various projects aimed at reducing divorces. Counseling centers based on a psychophysiological approach have been established in Tashkent to address stress and relationship problems.
These centers provide professional assistance to families and strengthen relationships. There are also changes in legislation.
For example, in cases of domestic violence, the possibility of quickly dissolving a marriage through the court has been created, which is an important step aimed at ensuring the safety of women and children. In conclusion, the disparity in the number of marriages and divorces reflects not only personal choice but also changes in society.
Serious preparation, mutual respect, and patience are essential for strengthening the family. Every divorce is not only a problem for two individuals but for the entire society.
Therefore, it is necessary to approach marriage responsibly and treat the spouse with respect. A strong family is the foundation of a stable society.
