The chairman of the National Revival Party, Alisher Qodirov, expressed his thoughts on the concept of secularism and its importance in society. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to him, Uzbekistan, as a secular state, creates the opportunity for all citizens to live freely within the framework of the law. People with different views must have equal rights.
Qodirov emphasized that the consumption or non-consumption of alcoholic beverages is a personal choice of each individual, but advertising alcoholic beverages is prohibited by law. Additionally, cultural events held in society are also considered examples of secularism.
For instance, he cited Jennifer Lopez's concert as an example, stating that the choice of her outfit or whether to attend the event is at the discretion of each person. The politician also stressed that the rights of women who wear headscarves must be protected by law.
He stated that the practice of forcing individuals to remove their headscarves for passport photos should be stopped, as identification is carried out through the face, not the hair. Qodirov presented these ideas from the perspective of ensuring tolerance and equal rights in society (source: zamin.uz).
