Important steps are being taken in Uzbekistan to protect consumer rights and ensure market safety. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
On August 21, the draft law "On Market Control," submitted for public discussion, sparked extensive debates. The main purpose of this draft law is to guarantee the safety and quality of food and other products in the country, as well as to regulate relations in the field of market control.
According to the new regulation, market control authorities will have the power to verify full compliance of products with mandatory standards and norms. If products that pose health risks or do not meet quality requirements are identified during inspections, measures will be taken to remove them from circulation.
Additionally, financial penalties may be imposed on producers or sellers. Control purchases will be conducted with the participation of two impartial individuals, recorded on video, and without illegal interference.
This ensures transparency and guarantees fair control in the sector. The draft law also provides for strengthening public oversight.
In particular, citizens who report poor-quality or dangerous products will be financially incentivized. The Cabinet of Ministers is expected to approve this mechanism within four months.
Discussions will continue until September 5. If adopted, the law will come into force on July 1, 2026.
As officials emphasized, these measures will enhance market safety, reduce the flow of substandard products, and effectively protect consumer interests. Source: zamin.uz
