The restriction on crossing the border through Kazakhstan's Tajen border checkpoint has been extended until December 31, 2025. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Official information was provided by the Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The restrictions apply to individuals, passenger cars, buses, and cargo vehicles with an authorized total weight not exceeding 3.5 tons.
These restrictions have been in effect since February 1, 2025, and will continue until the end of the year. The extension of the restriction is related to the second phase of construction work at the border checkpoint.
Capital repairs are being carried out in administrative buildings, and concrete work is being performed on road surfaces. For this reason, temporary restrictions have been introduced.
However, cargo vehicles with a total weight exceeding 3.5 tons are not restricted when crossing the Tajen (Kazakhstan) – Dovut ota (Uzbekistan) border checkpoint. Additionally, the Uzbekistan Customs Committee announced the launch of additional passenger trains on the Nukus-Beyneu route via the Karakalpakstan railway station.
This measure was implemented to ensure faster and more convenient border crossing. It should be noted that movement through these control checkpoints was suspended for several months.
Initially, the restrictions were introduced for three months starting February 1, 2025, then extended until September 1. Now, all border movements will be subject to restrictions until the end of the year.
