
Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on the eve of Ramadan Eid regarding the "pardon of a group of individuals who are serving their sentences, sincerely regret their actions, and are firmly on the path to rehabilitation."
According to the decree, based on Article 109, Clause 23 of the Constitution of Uzbekistan, 488 individuals who are serving their sentences and sincerely regret their actions have been pardoned.
Of those pardoned, 100 individuals were completely released from the main sentence, 268 were conditionally released before serving their sentences, and the sentences of 34 individuals who were deprived of liberty were replaced with lighter penalties. Additionally, the terms of imprisonment for 86 individuals were shortened.
Among those pardoned, 17 are foreign citizens, 37 are women, 37 are men over 60 years old, 167 are young people (including 1 minor), and 5 are individuals who participated in the activities of banned organizations.
In connection with the implementation of the decree, relevant instructions were given to the responsible ministries and agencies to assist in returning the pardoned individuals to their families and loved ones, adapting to social life, engaging in productive work, establishing a healthy lifestyle, and finding a worthy place in society.
