The Ministry of Transport has announced the initial results of the large-scale reconstruction and modernization works being carried out on Shota Rustaveli street. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to experts' calculations, once the project is fully completed, the passenger transport volume will reach approximately 300,000 people per day, and traffic will become much easier. Within the new system, the number of bus routes will increase by 40 percent, and the number of daily trips is planned to rise from 2,000 to 2,800.
This will serve to double the passenger flow and freight transport capacity. After the reconstruction is completed, travel time for passengers will also be significantly reduced.
The average travel time will decrease from 25 minutes to 18 minutes, and the average speed of buses will increase from 18.5 km/h to 23.6 km/h. The interval between buses will be approximately 7 minutes, which will provide convenience and save time for passengers.
The street infrastructure will also be fundamentally renewed. Within this scope, 11 new bus stops, nearly 500 modern parking lots, bicycle lanes, and 21 pedestrian and bicycle crossings will be established.
The road consists of 10 traffic lanes, of which 6 are for cars, 2 for buses, and the remaining 2 are allocated for stops and ensuring passenger safety. According to the Ministry of Transport, after the reconstruction is completed, the bus schedule will be revised, and specific measures will be implemented to prevent congestion and provide safe and convenient transport services for passengers (source: zamin.uz).
