New opportunities are being created in migration processes between Uzbekistan and Russia. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs press secretary Ahror Burxonov, in the near future, citizens of the two countries will be able to enter each other's territories using only internal passports. Currently, negotiations on this matter are ongoing and internal procedures are being developed.
Therefore, it was emphasized that it is too early to talk about exact dates. In May 2025, the government of Uzbekistan considered allowing citizens of Russia, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan to enter the country for up to 30 days with an internal passport or ID card.
Children can visit based on a special “Kinder passport.” This initiative was expressed in the decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev dated May 15 and is aimed at increasing the flow of tourists to the country.
Currently, a visa-free regime operates between Uzbekistan and Russia, but Russian citizens are required to present a foreign passport when entering Uzbekistan. Additionally, if they stay for more than 15 days, they are obliged to register temporarily.
Uzbek citizens use a “red” passport when entering Russia and are required to register with the regional migration departments of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs within 7 working days after entry. Furthermore, starting from June 30, 2025, all foreign citizens arriving in Russia visa-free will be required to pre-register and obtain a QR code through the “Gosuslugi RuID” mobile application.
These updates are aimed at further simplifying migration processes between the two countries. Source: Izvestiya.
