The Tashkent Thermal Power Plant has completely abandoned the use of mazut fuel. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
From now on, electricity and heat energy are produced only using modern and highly efficient equipment operating on natural gas. This, in turn, is aimed at providing environmentally friendly energy for the capital's residents and industrial enterprises.
By the initiative of the Head of State, new gas turbines with a total capacity of 64 megawatts were launched at the plant in 2024. These modern devices allow for the stable production of 515 million kilowatt-hours of electricity and 630 gigacalories of heat energy annually.
This energy serves the needs of the capital's population and the economy. Environmental safety is one of the priority areas of the plant's activities.
Special eco-posts have been installed on the three gas turbine units located in the area, with continuous monitoring and analysis of gases emitted into the atmosphere. Additionally, in cooperation with the "Thermal Power Plants" Joint Stock Company and Turkey's "Iltekno" company, cogeneration centers have been established in the Chilonzor, Olmazor, and Sergeli districts.
These centers also produce environmentally friendly energy using modern technologies. In the future, similar modern equipment is planned to be installed in the Mirzo Ulugbek, Yunusobod, Shaykhontohur, Uchtepa, Mirobod, Yashnobod, and Yangihayot districts.
Moreover, the plant contributes to improving the city's ecology. For example, within the framework of the "Green Space" national program in 2025, 5,000 scenic and healthy trees were planted.
These efforts not only serve to modernize the energy system but also play an important role in improving air quality and environmental protection in the capital. Source: zamin.uz
