A new cargo terminal is being constructed at Namangan airport
Major construction works are underway at Namangan airport. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The development activities in this area are clearly noticeable from the airport zone, which is considered the city gate. Currently, a modern and large-scale cargo terminal is being built at the airport.
This terminal will allow transporting more than 50 tons of cargo per day and will serve exports to over 90 foreign countries. On September 16, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Namangan region and closely studied the life of the local population and the development of the area.
His attention was mainly focused on the construction works at the airport. An investment of 140 million dollars has been allocated for this project, directed towards building new terminals, border control, and modern visa departments.
During his visit last year, the President attended a presentation on the development project of Namangan airport. Currently, construction works are progressing rapidly.
The new 3-story terminal is planned to increase passenger capacity by 2.5 times compared to the current airport. Additionally, a business lounge, retail and dining outlets, a medical room, and Duty Free shops will be organized in a modern style.
A large cargo terminal is also being constructed at Namangan airport. This will create a unified cargo system in the valley and significantly enhance the region's export, business, and transit potential.
For example, this year it is planned to attract 1.5 million foreign and over 2 million local tourists to Namangan region and increase service exports to 210 thousand dollars. The exports of Andijan and Fergana regions also benefit from this process.
Special technical equipment at the airport is being updated, which will enable the reception of airplanes of various sizes and provide them with quality services. Additionally, catering services, a fueling complex, and other utility buildings are being constructed.
The new terminals are expected to be operational next year. The head of state gave instructions to develop the infrastructure around the airport.
According to global experience, it was emphasized that hotels, shopping and entertainment complexes, and all modern services should be established around the airport. Also, parking lots and service facilities will be built to expand conveniences for guests.
