According to the Resolution No. 589 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated September 16, 2024, weddings, ceremonies, and family events in the country will be monitored under a new procedure within the framework of the “Rational Consumption” program. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This program is aimed at preventing excessive waste and expenses and ensuring the population is provided with quality and sufficient food. The years 2026–2030 have been declared the “Period of Urgent Food Security,” during which strengthening food security and reducing wastefulness have been set as priority tasks.
According to the resolution, strict norms have been introduced for family events and weddings. For example, up to 200 guests can attend family events, up to 250 guests at osh ceremonies, and 250–300 guests at double weddings and communal work gatherings.
Moreover, practices that contradict national traditions and require excessive time and expenses, such as “kuyov navkari,” “ota ko‘rdi,” “sep yoydi,” “money distribution,” and “fabric sharing,” are strictly prohibited. These measures serve to reduce the financial burden on society and prevent wastefulness.
According to the new regulations, weddings and ceremonies must be conducted in accordance with national values and the needs of society. This will significantly contribute to promoting a healthy lifestyle among the population and ensuring food security in the country.
Additionally, these measures will help improve the ecological situation. Therefore, the new system is considered an important step in enhancing the quality of weddings and ceremonies and ensuring the financial and social benefits of each event.
Such changes must be supported by all segments of society. Source: Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, 2024.
