At the next session of the Legislative Chamber, important changes regarding the photographing of a person's image and its use were discussed, and the relevant draft law was approved. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
From now on, obtaining written or verbal consent is mandatory for taking or distributing someone's photo or video. This change is aimed at protecting personal privacy.
The new draft law provides special protection for children's image rights. A child is recognized as an independent legal subject regarding their own image.
Additionally, for taking and using images of persons under 16 years old, the consent of their parents or legal guardians is required. The draft clearly and understandably defines the rules for photographing and using images.
The circumstances under which images can be taken without the person's consent are clearly specified, preventing various interpretations. Furthermore, strict rules have been introduced for video surveillance cameras installed in public places.
In places where cameras are installed, visible and easily understandable warning signs are mandatory. Video surveillance is prohibited in areas related to personal privacy, such as changing rooms and restrooms.
The draft law was approved by the deputies and sent to the Senate. Once the document comes into force, legal relations related to photos and videos will be further regulated, and the mechanism for protecting citizens' personal privacy will be strengthened (source: zamin.uz).
