The government of Uzbekistan has announced a new comprehensive program to develop the greenhouse sector. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The main goal of this program is to increase the volume of greenhouse products and significantly boost their exports. Special attention will be paid by the state to ensuring uninterrupted gas supply to greenhouse farms, which will help increase productivity.
According to the new strategy, by 2026, agricultural export revenue is planned to reach 3.5 billion dollars, and by 2027, 4 billion dollars. Additionally, the existing state program envisions increasing the volume of greenhouse products to 620 thousand tons in 2026 and 670 thousand tons in 2027.
The export share is planned to be increased from the current 30 percent to 70 percent. To achieve this goal, 20 thousand hectares of new land will be allocated in 2026 and 15 thousand hectares in 2027.
As an economic incentive, from January 1, 2026, until the end of 2028, the social tax rate for agricultural enterprises will be reduced to 1 percent. Furthermore, tax debts as of October 1, 2025, will have their mandatory payment deadlines postponed without interest until the end of 2028.
Regional governors have been tasked with monitoring the implementation of these measures and assisting farmers. Currently, Uzbekistan holds one of the leading positions in the world in the export of apricots, watermelons, grapes, and other fruits.
This strategy will serve to further enhance the country's agricultural export potential. Source: UPL.UZ.
