A new project aimed at constructing special bus stations and parking areas for trucks in the capital and its surrounding areas has been presented to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Within the framework of this project, new facilities are planned to be built near the road patrol service posts “Erkin,” “Sharq,” “Bektemir,” “Uch qahramon,” and “Turbanov.” Rest areas, campgrounds, and service zones will be organized for drivers in these locations.
According to the information, land plots of 4.25 hectares, 7.7 hectares, and 8 hectares have been allocated for some of the facilities. The busiest point is indicated as the “Erkin” post in the Sergeli district, through which about 40–50 thousand vehicles pass daily.
Interior Minister Aziz Toshpo‘latov provided information on the “Menimcha” program on the “Uzbekistan 24” TV channel about the restriction of truck movement in the capital at certain times. According to him, truck movement in Tashkent will be temporarily restricted during peak hours.
These restrictions will be implemented in the early morning hours. In addition to buses, rest areas will also be built for trucks.
For example, if a truck coming from Samarkand arrives in Tashkent at 8:00 AM, it will be able to wait for several hours in a special parking area before entering the city. This arrangement aims to reduce traffic congestion.
Previously, Tashkent city mayor Shavkat Umurzoqov emphasized that more than 400 thousand vehicles enter the capital daily, causing serious problems in the traffic system. The mayor’s first deputy, Bakhtiyor Haydarov, announced plans to reduce congestion by relocating entry-exit posts and implementing new road solutions.
According to the new project, bus stations, campgrounds, and separate parking areas for light and heavy vehicles will be established outside the city. Funding issues have been resolved, design work will begin in 2025, and construction will start early next year.
Experts believe that this system will significantly reduce traffic congestion in Tashkent and play an important role in regulating traffic flow (source: zamin.uz).
