On October 20, 2023, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, visited the Islamic Civilization Center. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He was acquainted with the final stage of construction and furnishing works there. This center was established in 2017 based on the President's decree, and its foundation stone was laid on the eve of Ramadan Eid in 2018.
Since then, large-scale construction, landscaping, and scientific-educational projects have been carried out on the center's territory. The center was built in harmony with national architectural traditions and modern design.
Its 65-meter-high dome and 34-meter-tall portal facade enhance the monumentality and artistic significance of the facility. The Quran hall is located in the main part of the center, where one of the oldest and rarest copies of the Muslim world – the Uthman Mushaf – is exhibited.
In addition, sacred books from the eras of the Samanids, Karakhanids, Khwarezmshahs, and Timurids are also preserved. The center has a modern conference hall with 460 seats, fully equipped to host international-level conferences and forums.
Moreover, exhibition sections such as "Civilizations Before Islam," "The First and Second Renaissance," "Uzbekistan in the 20th Century," and "New Uzbekistan – New Renaissance" have been organized. The scientific heritage of great scholars like Imam Bukhari, Imam Termizi, Abu Mansur Maturidi, and Bahauddin Naqshband is extensively highlighted at the center.
Information about the activities of spiritual leaders such as Bibi Khanum, Nodirabegim, Uwaysi, and Anbar Otin is also provided. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the need to further enrich the center's activities scientifically and educationally and gave instructions to create an interesting, modern, and interactive environment for visitors.
Special attention was also paid to strengthening cooperation with foreign scientific institutions and training qualified specialists and guides. The head of state stressed that the Islamic Civilization Center should not only be a place of religious knowledge but also a scientific and cultural center that widely promotes our people's rich history, spirituality, and achievements in science worldwide (source: zamin.uz).
