Today, on October 21, the people of Uzbekistan have the opportunity to observe a unique natural phenomenon. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to astronomers, the green comet named C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) will pass at its closest distance to Earth. This event is very rare, and scientists emphasize that at least a thousand years must pass before it occurs again.
Experts believe that the Lemmon comet has brightened and reached a level visible to the human eye because it has been approaching the inner Solar System for several months. According to astronomer Stroud, the Lemmon comet will be one of the most noticeable and attractive comets in Earth's sky this year.
Its green color is related to the breakdown of diatomic carbon in its composition under the influence of sunlight. This process causes a bright green glow to appear in the comet's head.
The comet can be observed in Uzbekistan after sunset, approximately from 19:00 to 20:30. It is recommended to choose a location away from city lights, open, and elevated for observation.
A telescope is not necessary, but a clear sky and an environment with low light pollution are important. Astronomers specifically emphasize that the comet is completely safe for Earth and poses no threat to our planet's orbit.
