Recently, reports have circulated on social networks about a treasure being found in the “Aqchakol” tourist-recreational area of Ellikkala district in the Republic of Karakalpakstan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This news sparked widespread discussions and was received with interest by many. Some claimed that among the found items there were valuable coins.
However, the Cultural Heritage Agency denied these reports and stated that they do not correspond to reality. According to the agency, after the reports spread, specialists from the Karakalpakstan Cultural Heritage Department went to the site and conducted an investigation.
During the study, no archaeological finds or items of cultural significance were discovered in the area. The coins circulated on social networks were identified not as treasure, but as circulating coins of 200, 500, and 1000 soms issued in 2018 and 2022.
As a result of the investigation, an official report was drawn up with the participation of the Karakalpakstan Cultural Heritage Department, the Ellikkala district administration, and specialists. It was also confirmed that the information presented in the video appeal was not accurate.
The Cultural Heritage Agency urged citizens not to trust unverified information and to rely only on official sources. They emphasized the importance of responsibly approaching cultural heritage sites and preserving them.
This incident once again demonstrated the necessity of verifying any sensational news on the internet through official sources. Source: Cultural Heritage Agency.
