It has been reported that a total of 177 thousand marriages were registered in Uzbekistan from January to September 2025. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to data provided by the National Statistics Committee, 91.2 thousand of the registered marriages were recorded in urban areas, while 85.8 thousand were registered in rural areas. Although this indicator reflects a stable increase in the number of families, it also shows a trend of decreasing marriages in recent years.
Over the past five years, the number of marriages has gradually decreased. For example, in 2021, 206.8 thousand marriages were registered, in 2022 - 197 thousand, in 2023 - 184.5 thousand, and in 2024 - 179.4 thousand.
This year alone, the number reached 177 thousand. According to experts, several factors are causing the decline in the number of marriages.
These include economic difficulties among young people, rising housing prices, a tendency to delay marriage, and instances of going abroad for work. Additionally, sociologists emphasize that young people's attitudes towards marriage are changing.
Many prioritize financial stability, independent living conditions, and personal development first. Although the number of marriages in urban areas is slightly higher compared to rural areas, this gap has been narrowing in recent years.
This situation indicates changes occurring in the family relationship system and social trends in the country. Source: National Statistics Committee data, One.uz.
