According to the Resolution No. 676 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated October 25, 2025, starting from April 1, 2026, drivers will begin to receive penalty points for traffic violations recorded through automated photo and video control systems installed on the roads. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This innovation is aimed at improving road traffic safety and reducing road traffic accidents. From now on, penalty points will also be assigned for violations detected by radar or camera.
The points will be applied to the person owning the vehicle or to the driver using it based on a power of attorney, insurance policy, and road document. While the penalty points system was only applicable from June 1, 2025, for cases officially processed by traffic police officers, now drivers will also be identified and assigned penalty points through camera systems.
According to the resolution, if a driver does not violate traffic rules for 12 months, no points will be counted for the next first violation. Additionally, if the driver does not commit a new violation within six months, two points will be removed.
If a driver's penalty points reach 12 within one year, this information will be automatically sent to the court. Based on the court's decision, such drivers may be deprived of their driver's license for a period ranging from 6 months to 3 years.
Experts emphasize that the new system not only strengthens accountability but also encourages drivers to strictly comply with traffic rules. This will contribute to enhancing safety on the roads.
