
On October 28, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held talks with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
During the meeting, prospects for further strengthening and developing practical cooperation between the two countries were discussed. President Mirziyoyev sincerely congratulated the Serbian leader and expressed confidence that bilateral relations would reach a new level and the friendship between the two countries would be strengthened.
It was emphasized that the official visit holds historical significance in the year marking the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations. The peoples of Uzbekistan and Serbia share a similar mentality, which further strengthens the foundation of cooperation.
The negotiations covered issues of increasing trade turnover and developing a wide-ranging cooperation program in the fields of engineering, pharmaceuticals, chemical industry, information technology, digitalization, agro-industry, and tourism. Additionally, the importance of developing new transport corridors between Central Asia and the Balkans, especially the Trans-Caspian corridor, was noted.
To further develop economic cooperation, an agreement was reached to hold the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission in Tashkent next year. Furthermore, issues of labor migration, cultural-humanitarian, and educational cooperation were also discussed.
