From May 5, Uzbekistan will now celebrate "Vocational and Labor Day." This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was announced in the president's decree "On measures to implement reforms in the vocational education system." According to the decree, various events will be organized within the framework of the new holiday to enhance the prestige of professions among youth, encourage labor, and widely promote vocational education.
The decree sets important goals for the development of the vocational education system until 2030. In particular, the number of technical colleges with international and joint education programs will be increased to 250.
Additionally, the coverage of vocational education among 9th-grade graduates will be increased from the current 29 percent to 50 percent. Significant opportunities will also be created for teachers, increasing their participation in qualification improvement and internship programs abroad from 100 to 2,500.
Furthermore, 10th-grade students in schools will be given the opportunity to transfer their studies to technical colleges. This will allow young people to start acquiring practical professions earlier.
Starting from 2026, "Vocational and Labor Day" will be widely celebrated every year. According to experts, this initiative will increase interest in career choice among youth and elevate the attitude towards labor to a new level.
