The "Central Asia Smart City" project, valued at 10 billion dollars, is planned to be implemented in the Ahangaron district of Tashkent region. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This project is considered one of the largest economic initiatives in the region and is twice the size of the "Tashkent Medical Smart City" project. The project has been approved by the Tashkent regional administration and will be carried out by the joint venture "Going Investment."
This company includes investors from France, Japan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan. A total of 6,400 hectares of land has been allocated for construction, with the initial phase focusing on building key infrastructure facilities on 500 hectares.
The project envisions the creation of a "smart green city" designed for 200,000 residents. In the first phase, a Central Asian financial center, a trade and logistics complex, as well as international centers in tourism and transportation sectors will be established.
Additionally, the project plans to establish the Al-Khwarizmi International Knowledge and Technology Center with a capacity of 75,000 seats. The main goal of the project is to create an environmentally sustainable and technologically advanced urban environment.
Building a high-speed tram line to connect the new city with Tashkent and other regions is also an important part of the project. This tram will operate along the route connecting Tashkent, Nurafshan, Central Asia Smart City, Olmaliq, and Ahangaron.
The project will be implemented on a public-private partnership basis. The concept of "smart cities" is rapidly developing in Uzbekistan.
For example, similar smaller projects are being carried out in the cities of Samarkand and Bukhara. These initiatives aim to increase attractiveness for tourists and improve the living standards of the population by integrating digital technologies into urban infrastructure.
