A new industrial zone named Kungrad Salt Free Zone is planned to be established in the Qo‘ng‘irot district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This zone will specialize in the extraction and processing of salt from the Barsakelmes deposit. According to the decision of the head of state, the project aims to attract at least 50 million dollars in investment by 2026.
The total investment volume is planned to reach 200 million dollars by 2030. The first phase of the project will be implemented in 2025–2026, with initial work carried out on an area of 50 hectares.
Later, the zone's area may be expanded up to 200 hectares. Entrepreneurs operating in the Kungrad Salt Free Zone will receive the status of participants in the "Nukus" free economic zone for five years.
This status grants them access to a range of tax and customs privileges. The new industrial zone will serve to accelerate economic development in the region, create new jobs, and increase production volume.
