The Tashkent city administration responded to the inquiry from the Senate of the Oliy Majlis regarding the former ToshTurma (Investigation Isolator No. 1) area. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Earlier, the Senate had emphasized that the landscaping works in this area had been prolonged and cases of misuse raised questions among the local population. According to the administration, in October 2020, by the decision of the former city mayor, a 2.9-hectare land plot located on the site of the former investigation isolator in Yunusabad district was allocated to the Ogneupor company.
This land was allocated as compensation for the company's demolished facility on Chinoobod Street in Chilonzor district. Subsequently, the Yunusabad district council approved the construction of an administrative building with an area of 76 square meters in this area.
However, after this land was included in the conservation zone, the construction of a new building was prohibited. The administration emphasized that the decision did not provide clear instructions on what kind of building the company should construct.
Initially, Ogneupor planned to build a manufacturing enterprise in the area, but this plan was canceled due to nearby residential buildings. Afterwards, the company planned to build a hotel.
Ogneupor applied twice for privatization of the land plot, but both requests were denied. The reason was that, according to the Tashkent master plan, this area was included in the conservation zone.
The company’s management stated that if the restrictions are lifted, they are ready to attract investors and build a hotel and residential buildings in the area. Source: one.uz
