
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, held a meeting with representatives of leading US companies, investment funds, and financial institutions during his visit to Washington. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The event was attended by the US Secretary of Commerce, the President's special assistants, and heads of several major companies. During the meeting, President Mirziyoyev emphasized that the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the US is entering a new phase.
The head of our state noted that over the past eight years, the volume of trade between Uzbekistan and the US has quadrupled, and more than 300 US companies are successfully operating in our country. During the meeting, priority areas of economic cooperation were discussed, including projects in energy, transport infrastructure, and digital technologies.
Uzbekistan plans to create 18-20 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2030. More than half of this energy system is expected to come from solar and wind sources.
Additionally, joint development with the US is planned for the extraction and processing of uranium, copper, tungsten, molybdenum, and graphite. Extensive work is also underway to modernize transport infrastructure.
More than 12 billion dollars are planned to be allocated for the development of this sector by 2030. Cooperation is also expanding with companies such as Google, Meta, and NVIDIA in the field of digital technologies.
Efforts are being made to introduce payment systems like Apple Pay and Google Pay, as well as to establish a Digital Academy and a network of startup hubs. At the end of the meeting, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed readiness to support investment initiatives of US companies and emphasized that Uzbekistan will remain a reliable partner for foreign investors.
