
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with US Secretary of Commerce Howard Latnik in Washington. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
During the negotiations, issues of further developing the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the USA were discussed. In particular, special attention was paid to activating cooperation in trade and investment sectors and implementing joint projects in various branches of the economy.
It was noted at the meeting that the multifaceted relations between Uzbekistan and the USA are steadily developing. In recent years, the volume of goods exchanged between the two countries has increased fourfold, reaching nearly 1 billion dollars.
Currently, more than 300 US companies operate in Uzbekistan. They are implementing large projects in industry, agriculture, energy, and innovation sectors.
Issues of further strengthening trade relations and developing interregional cooperation through effective mechanisms were also discussed. Additionally, the parties expressed their interest in establishing a Coordinating Council.
Special attention was paid to cooperation in the agricultural sector during the negotiations. Initial agreements were reached on supplying soy and cotton from the USA, as well as introducing advanced drip irrigation technologies.
At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to activate practical cooperation by establishing a special investment platform to support joint projects. Source: zamin.uz
