Uzbekistan plans to open new consulates in the USA. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was mentioned in the decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev regarding the establishment of the America-Uzbekistan Business Council. These consulates are planned to be opened in the US cities of Chicago, Orlando, and Seattle.
Their main task is to establish effective cooperation with Uzbeks living in the USA. At the same time, specialists with experience working in various fields in the USA will be involved in the new consulates.
The location of the consulates is also determined taking into account the number of Uzbeks in the USA. According to official data, by 2023, the number of Uzbeks living in the USA reached 75 thousand.
According to reports from the State Statistics Committee, from January to September 2023, more than 12.9 thousand Uzbek citizens traveled to the USA. This figure increased by 9.3 percent compared to the previous year.
The majority of travelers, that is 9.2 thousand people, went to the USA as tourists. Additionally, 3.1 thousand people visited to see their relatives, while 304 citizens came to the USA for study.
The new consulates are expected to play an important role in strengthening such visits and connections with compatriots.
