An important dialogue on labor migration issues between Uzbekistan and Russia took place in Tashkent. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This meeting was organized within the framework of the presidential decree adopted on October 17, 2024. It was attended by Uzbekistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Olimjon Abdullayev and Russia’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan Aleksey Yerkhov.
During the dialogue, special attention was paid to improving the rights and conditions of Uzbeks working in Russia. The parties discussed the restoration of the previously implemented “pilot project” on a trial basis, as well as simplifying and systematizing migration processes.
One of the important proposals was to organize medical examinations, Russian language qualification exams, and other necessary procedures at branches of Russian higher education institutions in Tashkent and Jizzakh. This will allow our compatriots to complete all the necessary official procedures in Uzbekistan before traveling to Russia.
As a result, time and funds will be saved, and excessive bureaucratic barriers will be eliminated. Additionally, the meeting considered the establishment of training centers in Russia and the preparation of teachers and specialists in the vocational education system.
By attracting experienced instructors and experts from Russia, it is expected that the employment and social integration of labor migrants will be facilitated. The issue of protecting the rights of Uzbek citizens during migration raids conducted in Russia was also raised during the dialogue.
The parties emphasized the need to ensure transparency and legal guarantees. Furthermore, they agreed to accelerate the activities of the bilateral working group to promptly resolve migration-related issues.
This dialogue is taking the migration policy between Uzbekistan and Russia to a new level. In the coming years, the process of working in Russia for our compatriots is expected to become more systematic, convenient, and safe.
