According to the National Statistics Committee, more than 381.7 thousand students were admitted to higher education institutions in Uzbekistan for the 2024/2025 academic year. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This figure has increased 2.2 times compared to the 2020/2021 academic year. According to the Committee's press service, this growth indicates an increased interest in higher education.
In the current academic year, 196.7 thousand of the students are girls, and 185 thousand are boys. Thus, the number of girls studying in higher education exceeds that of boys by 12 thousand.
This figure reflects the growing aspiration of girls towards education. By region, the largest number of students is located in the city of Tashkent.
Here, more than 155.2 thousand young people are studying at higher education institutions. Bukhara region ranks second with 31.5 thousand students.
Tashkent region has 27 thousand, and Samarkand region has 21.2 thousand students, occupying the next positions. The fewest students are registered in Sirdaryo region, where nearly only 5.3 thousand young people are enrolled in higher education.
Additionally, the number of students is relatively low in Jizzakh (6.3 thousand), Navoi (9.2 thousand), and Andijan (12.5 thousand) regions. According to experts, in recent years, the increase in the number of higher education institutions, the expansion of admission quotas, and the improvement of educational opportunities have significantly increased young people's interest in higher education.
These factors create opportunities for training knowledgeable and qualified personnel in the country. Source of information: National Statistics Committee.
