On November 14, 2025, Japan's ambassador to Uzbekistan, Kendi Hirata, and Uzbekistan's Minister of Health, Asilbek Khudoyorov, signed important documents within the framework of mutual cooperation. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
These documents envisage Japan providing grant assistance to Uzbekistan as part of the economic and social development program. The project is valued at 859 million yen, approximately 5.6 million US dollars.
Under this program, modern Japanese mammography equipment will be delivered to 17 state hospitals in Tashkent city and regions. These devices will enable wider mammographic screenings in our country and improve the effectiveness of early breast cancer detection.
This will contribute to improving women's health and advancing the fight against this serious disease to a new level. It is worth noting that the development of such initiatives was discussed at the "Central Asia + Japan" foreign ministers' meeting in December 2022.
At that meeting, the Japanese government expressed its intention to invest in human capital development and quality economic growth in Central Asian countries. This project is being implemented precisely with these goals in mind.
