
Since the beginning of 2025, the unemployment rate in Uzbekistan has decreased to 4.9 percent. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This indicator was announced at a meeting led by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, where issues of ensuring employment for the population were discussed. It was emphasized that in the cities of Bukhara, Kogon, Navoi, Zarafshan, Samarkand, and Shirin, the unemployment rate fell below 4 percent for the first time, approaching the "natural" level.
Additionally, it was noted that more than 1,400 mahallas have become poverty-free areas for the first time. By the end of the year, the poverty rate is forecasted to decrease to 6 percent.
Last year, this indicator was 8.9 percent. The head of state cited Uzun district of Surkhandarya region as an example in reducing poverty.
Within the framework of the poverty reduction program in this district, 160 billion soms were allocated. Furthermore, $70 million in foreign investment was attracted, and 47 new enterprises were launched.
More than 300 service facilities started operating in the district, providing employment for nearly a thousand people. Cooperation between entrepreneurs and the population was established in Uzun district.
As a result of these measures, since the beginning of the year, the poverty rate in the district has decreased from 10.5 percent to 3 percent. Source of information: One.uz.
