According to a government decision, the official names of 130 water bodies within the country have been re-approved in the state language. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This list includes rivers, streams, lakes, springs, waterfalls, and reservoirs. These changes were made to create a unified standard on maps and official documents.
According to the decision, a number of hydronyms were also updated. For example, Sassiqsoy is now Sho‘rsuv, Gaiston flood reservoir is Yangiqo‘rg‘on, and Jinnidaryo has been renamed Zo‘g‘atasoy.
These name changes were carried out in agreement with local residents and experts. Previously, the names of 320 railway objects were also adapted to the requirements of the state language.
Now, work is beginning to regulate the names of mountains, peaks, passes, and caves. This process aims to make the official terms of geographical objects clear and understandable.
These updates are of great importance for accurately reflecting the country's historical, cultural, and natural values. Source: Zamin.uz.
