Special car-free zones are being established in Uzbekistan to ensure pedestrians can move freely and relax safely. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This initiative was proposed by the Tourism Committee, with the main goal of creating comfortable conditions for local residents and tourists. These zones have been introduced in historical and tourist sites in cities such as Bukhara, Andijan, Fergana, Kokand, Margilan, and Samarkand.
For example, Registan Square, Shahi Zinda Alley, Konigil tourism village, and other notable landmarks in Samarkand have been turned into car-free zones. Additionally, special streets and promenades designated for pedestrians have been established in Karakalpakstan, Jizzakh, Namangan, Kashkadarya, Syrdarya, Tashkent city and regions, Navoi, Surkhandarya, and Khorezm.
Signs prohibiting vehicle movement have been installed in these areas. Such measures serve to create a safer and more comfortable environment for citizens and visitors.
